Authentic Thai BBQ, Steamboat

Beside the famous eatery at Golden Mile, Thien Kee Steamboat Restaurant, there is this restaurant located at level one of the Golden Mile Complex. "Moo Kra Tak", offers authentic Thai BBQ and steamboat and it's usually very crowded in the evening.

One set of food served
In addition to the set of food (Consist of Prawn, Liver, Chicken, Fish Ball, Crab Stick, Sotong and Hotdog), they also have a set of vegetables side dish (Egg, mushroom, assorted vegetables and 冬粉)

Vegetables side dish
The difference between Thai BBQ/Steamboat and the typical one you can find at Bugis, operated mainly by the China Population, they have a very unique pot. The "BBQ" is done in the middle and the soup at the side, something like a "UFO". Without further ado, let me present: Thai Steamboat Pot.

 "UFO" Steamboat Pot
I know right, it's very unique way of steamboat. You have to use the "Lard" they provide to oil the platform and wait for it to heat up before you place food on it. The charcoal is at the bottom which should last till you finish your dinner. Extra dish of chicken/beef are priced at $10 per plate, i think it's rather expensive as the portion is small. However normally, the set of steamboat with the food provided would be enough for 2-4 person ($35).

The waiter/waitress there does understand simple English and Mandarin although Golden Mile is known as the "Little Thailand" in Singapore. Recommended if you had not try before Thai Steamboat but it's not the typical "eat-all-you-can" buffet steamboat.

Ikea Alexandra, Restaurant

Ikea Alexandra, Restaurant, one of my favorite restaurant for chicken wings and meatballs. It's not only a place for families to purchase furniture, it is good to hangout there once awhile with your loved ones.

Ikea Alexandra, Singapore
The restaurants offers a wide variety of food from breakfast to dinner and promotions changes daily. As usual, we had the all-time favorites; Meatballs, Chicken wings, Baked Chicken Leg, Fish Nuggets.

Baked Chicken Leg: $5.50
Kids Fish Nugget
And the good thing of the restaurant is that they offer kids menu in smaller portion for the kids/children. However, an adult could order that as well. So you can try every bit of them at a smaller portion.

Meatballs (Beef and Pork)
Finally, the Swedish meatballs (Beef and Pork) and which mean it's not suitable for the Muslims. Another "must-try" in store. They are having a promotion of $1.90 for 5pcs meatballs and comes with a free drink (U.P $3.70) till 16th Oct 2011. So hurry down to Ikea this weekend with your loves one.

One of the favorite place for couples, families and even friends to hang out together on a lazy weekend afternoon. Try it out on the latest furniture display, take tonnes of pictures, decorate your room and finally head down to the restaurant for some meatballs.

Sweet Dynasty

We were heading home from Clarke Quay and needed to get a drink to quench the thirst when we chance upon this restaurant at a corner in the Basement. Sweet Dynasty (糖潮甜品), offers nutritious and healthy desserts originated from a small stall in KL.

The menu
There's whole lot of varieties to choose from and we ordered the Mango Tango Strawberry. We love strawberry to the max and the dessert they offered is fantastic.

Mango Tango @ $4.50

We tried the one at Scape and this is far better off than those selling "strawberry snow/ice". The look of it, seems like the shop's operated by a family and i always like the concept of a family starting business in Singapore. I had wanted to open one of my own in the future. Head down with friends and family to The Central now, for a little sweet stuff that might brighten up your day. Indulge and savour the wonderful variety of dessert choices prepared just for you!

The Bungy Bar

Bungy Bar's located just beside the Bungy Jump (G-MAX Reverse Bungy). One of the co-sponsors for Oktoberfest 2011, we are fortunate to have won ourselves a $20 dining voucher.

Pretty interesting Menu

The place was so lively and we headed down for dinner. The live band played very nice music and ambience's fantastic especially it's near the river @ Clarke Quay. The open concept pub/bar was spacious and staff was friendly. In addition, they do serve iced water as well. Their happy hour's for the beer are reasonably priced.

Carbonara @ $21.00
We ordered a Fish & Chips, Carbonara, and they were served pretty fast. The potion (Carbonara) was good to go for one pax. It was much cheesy than i thought and overall was good, no complaints about this.

Fish & Chips @ $17.90
Next, Fish & Chips will never go wrong most of the times. However, B.B's offered a premium catch of the day and it taste just as good as the picture. One thing special about the Fish & Chips is the Tartar Sauce, it's neither too sour nor sweet. This was the best Tartar sauce yet. Fries was crispy and overall Awesome!

As quoted from it's website, if you are looking for a place to hangout with friends where the food is great and the drinks divine, head on down to the Bungy Bar. (I couldn't agree lesser) Recommended much!

家香 Noodle House

Jia Xiang (家香) Mee, famous for its Jia Xiang Kolo Mee and air flown all the way from Sarawak, had opened it's outlet at the new shopping mall, NEX @ Serangoon.

Promotion going on @ NEX
They have this promotion going at the moment. For the selected noodle that you purchase, it comes with a free drink. Unfortunately, we ordered all the same Jia Xiang Mee, as the others doesn't look tempting. Pay at the cashier and wait for the food to serve, the service was pretty fast and efficient. Overall, the restaurant was not very pack, probably because the location @ NEX was not a good one.

Jia Xiang Kolo Mee @ $6.40
You can choose either "Mee Pok" or "Mee Kia" for the noodle and i think "Mee Kia" (thin noodle) is a better choice for this. Mee pok is a type of Chinese noodle characterized by its flat and yellow appearance, varying in thickness and width. It comes with a bowl of soup and wantons and prawn. The prawn is very fresh and nice. Minced meat and barbecued meat (Char Siu) are not that fantastic afterall, hard and very chewy. It's not the best wanton mee in town but if you have yet to try it, give it a try. They have other specialities as well.

KPO Cafe Bar

One of the coziest place to chill out is this KPO Cafe that is situated at Killiney Road Post Office. Together with BALACLAVA and Wala-Wala Cafe Bar, KPO is one of the creative company lead by Imagingings.

KPO Cafe Bar
We wanted to give it a try many a time during the weekdays and it's always fully pack, so we decided to check it out on a Saturday and guess what, it was relatively quiet. If you ever pass-by, it's really a post office beside. And several times, those luxury branded cars will be parked outside KPO like a showcase of art.

KPO Spring Chicken
The two-storey cafe has a big problem with the staircase as the "gaps" are rather big. Ladies would have a hard time climbing up and down. Happy hour ended at 8pm and after looking through the menu, we ordered the KPO Spring Chicken and KPO Beef Burger

If you wonder why would i order a spring chicken over at KPO, that's because they offer a huge selection of local delicacies such as Nasi Lemak, Hokkien Mee and etc. Well cut the story short, i wouldn't have ordered Nasi Lemak for a whopping $16. SO, we ended up with something special (I suppose).

KPO Beef Burger with Potato chips.
The service was pretty good but the food's really overpriced for the portion that was offered. Nothing special about the KPO Spring Chicken and taste as good as the one, what coffeeshop uncle can offer at $4.50. I would probably have a chicken feast with the kind of money spent here at KPO ($17). The drinks are reasonable, $7/8 for a bottled beer but definitely not the price for the food. KPO Beef Burger was generally good except that the portion is small, beef minced meat was juicy.

The feels like modern-home concept definitely attracts me back for a drink or two but not for the food again. KPO Cafe Bar also offered 'LIVE' Telecast of soccer, so it would be a popular hangout for fans out there. Afterall, a good and cosy place to chillout.

Poh Cheu, Hand-Made Kway

Located in one of the coffee shop at Alexandra Village, Bukit Merah, Poh Cheu offers handmade "Ang Ku Kway" and "Soon Kway" and other specialties as well.

After some time of observation, this little shop here attracts a handful of customers and generally quite a long queue most of the time. It's been doing business for the past 20 years and thus explained the return of loyal customers.

Soon Kway ($0.70), Rice Cake ($0.90) each
I think the special thing about Poh Cheu is that they are handmade and made-to-sell on the spot. Most of the items are not ready yet when I was there. The Ang Ku Kway has alot of flavour; Peanut, Green Bean, Salted Bean, Mango, Coconut, Yam, Durian, Coffee, Red Bean and Green Tea.

Ang Ku Kway @ $0.70 each
Overall, above-average Ang Ku Kway and nothing special about the different flavour that comes with it. If you haven't been to Alexandra Village, you could drop by this place after your visit to Ikea Alexandra. It's just 15mins walk away. Ang Ku Kway lover, give it a try their assorted flavours available as their prices are reasonable.

BBQ Chicken Singapore

BBQ Chicken opens it's latest outlet at Far East Square and we decided to try it out since there's a 1-for-1 promotion going on. There weren't many people around and there was only one waitress going around serving customers.

BBQ Chicken originated from South Korea and is No.1 Chicken Restaurant. What makes them unique from other chicken seller is that it created its own inimitable formula with flavours and ingredients of Korean cuisine like Ginseng and authentic barbeque sauces etc. On top of that, it used 100% trans fat free pure olive oil.

Tasteless Baked Chicken Pasta
We expected the same kind of food quality to be served here at Far East Square as the outlet at Downtown east was fantastic, the service was pretty good as well. We ordered for the 1-for-1 deal: Baked Chicken Pasta, Fish and Chips, Korean Traditional Charboiled and Olive Luxury Chicken (2pc)

Fish & Chips
Apart from the Fish and Chips, everything else is awful. The quality was far from good, not mentioning perfect. When one's expectation was held high, whatever we got for the one at Far East Square are just disappointing and frustrated. First-time customer to BBQ Chicken at this outlet would definitely not return to any of it's other outlet anymore.

Korean Traditional Charboiled
Ok. I should say that pictures are deceiving to some extend as they look delicious. But the sad thing is, they are only look able but however edible.

Last but not least, Olive Chicken
Very disappointed with the kind of food being presented, and arguably the worst dinner I've ever tried. I've feedback to the relevant authorities on this, so as to prevent the same kind of food quality for the next customers. I would appreciate they do something about this and we will be back for much reviews at a later date.
